In February 2020, Steel River Group participated in the Indian Resource Council’s Indigenous Participation in Major Projects Conference, an event focused on strengthening dialogue around Indigenous involvement in Canada’s resource and infrastructure sectors.

During the conference, Steel River Group President & CEO Trent Fequet joined a panel alongside other industry leaders to discuss the evolving roles of government, industry, and Indigenous communities in major project development.

Key themes explored included:

  • Building stronger Indigenous participation in large-scale projects

  • Creating long-term economic opportunities through partnership

  • The importance of leadership and collaboration

  • Shared responsibility between governments, industry, and communities

  • Advancing meaningful inclusion beyond surface-level commitments

Steel River Group’s participation reflected the company’s growing voice in national conversations around Indigenous economic development and responsible project partnerships.

As an Indigenous-owned company working directly between communities and industry, Steel River Group has long believed that sustainable outcomes come from collaboration, practical action, and shared value creation.

The event marked another important moment in 2020 as Steel River Group continued expanding its leadership presence across Canada.
