Peepeekisis Cree Nation and Steel River Group Launch Miwasin Development Group

On May 17, 2023, Peepeekisis Cree Nation announced the establishment of Miwasin Development Group, a new co-development company created in partnership with Steel River Group.

The new entity was formed to help advance Nation-led economic opportunities through a structured platform focused on growth, ownership, and long-term prosperity.

Miwasin Development Group represented a forward-looking model where Indigenous communities are positioned to lead and participate meaningfully in the development of future projects and business ventures.

Key objectives of the partnership included:

• Creating a dedicated Nation-focused development company

• Supporting long-term own-source revenue generation
