Founder, Steel River Group

Trent Fequet is a proud Indigenous entrepreneur, leader, and visionary with over 25 years of experience working with some of Canada’s largest and most complex companies in the pipeline, infrastructure, construction, and mining sectors. An Inuit-born business leader, Trent has spent his career at the intersection of industry and community, committed to creating meaningful pathways for Indigenous participation, ownership, and self-determination within Canada’s economy.

In 2017, he founded Steel River Group with a bold vision: to reimagine how a private Indigenous business can define, create, and capture value, not just for itself, but for Indigenous communities, partners, and people across the country.

Under his leadership, the company has grown into a thriving group of businesses that support Indigenous and industry partners through services ranging from infrastructure development and staffing to environmental consulting and corporate advisory.

As Founder and CEO, Trent provides the vision, strategic oversight, and cultural grounding for Steel River Group. He works closely with his leadership team and Ecosystem partners to ensure that the company’s growth is inclusive, sustainable, and rooted in community priorities. He is known for his tireless work ethic, servant leadership approach, and deep belief in the power of mentorship. Whether it’s coaching Indigenous entrepreneurs, advising community leaders, or empowering staff across the organization, Trent is relentless in his mission to uplift those around him.
