SRG-Assisted NRED Funding — 2025

Unlock funding. Build your municipality.

Overview

The Northern and Regional Economic Development (NRED) Program is a Government of Alberta initiative that provides funding to strengthen and diversify local and regional economies.

Through NRED, municipalities, Indigenous communities, and non-profit organizations can access up to $300,000 per project to support initiatives that create jobs, attract investment, and build long-term community resilience.

The program is designed to help communities take on projects that might otherwise be out of reach, offering financial support to turn local vision into measurable impact.

Project Initiatives

Planning & Feasibility Studies – preparing for future development with research, strategies, and business cases.

Tourism Development & Marketing – promoting local attractions, events, and cultural assets to boost visitor activity.

Investment Readiness – creating tools and strategies that attract private investment and support business expansion.

Business Retention & Growth – helping local businesses scale, remain competitive, and create jobs.

The goal of NRED is to build resilient, competitive, and thriving regional economies across Alberta.

How It Works

1. Discovery Call – Understanding Your Community’s Vision
We start with a conversation with your municipal leadership team to learn about your priorities, challenges, and opportunities. This step ensures we understand your unique needs and goals before shaping a funding strategy.

2. Funding Application Support – Building a Strong Case for NRED
Our team works with you to design a compelling application that aligns with NRED criteria. We combine research, economic data, and storytelling to maximize your chances of funding success. We don’t just fill out forms — we create a proposal that demonstrates real community impact.

3. Project Delivery – Turning Ideas Into Action
Once funding is secured, SRG’s in-house experts move quickly to deliver on your project. From branding and websites to video campaigns, economic strategies, and tourism initiatives, we ensure professional results that bring your vision to life. Our team manages timelines, quality, and communications to keep everything on track.

4. Showcase Your Success – Telling Your Story to the World
We help you share the results of your project with stakeholders, businesses, and the public. Through professional marketing, video storytelling, and digital campaigns, we position your community as a leader in growth, reconciliation, and regional development. This not only celebrates your success but also attracts future investment and partnerships.
